Health and Food for Better Health and Fertility
A big part of my decision to finally start this blog was wanting to share the amazing healthier life I’ve come to through dietary changes. A few years ago I made the decision to switch to a mostly vegan diet, cutting out all meats aside from fish, all dairy, and making a conscious effort to eat cleaner, less processed foods overall. This led me to an overall healthier life, a happier outlook, a body I could actually be proud of, and an amazing miracle in the form of healed ovaries and a surprise baby I was told I would never be able to have.
Infertility, PCOS, Chronic Pain, and Diet
After everything that happened to me; from my weight loss to seemingly curing my PCOS, I did a lot of research. What I found made me sad, and it reminded me of how much misery there was in my life before I started on this journey. I had been told I would never conceive, and I’d accepted that. I was living with painful periods, a body I hated, and a painful condition that left my muscles aching and useless. My research showed me that there were tons of other women going through the same misery and worse. I found harrowing stories of dealing with infertility, PCOS, fibromyalgia, and excess weight that seemed to stick around no matter what. I read stories about women who had hysterectomies in order to stop the unpleasant periods their PCOS gave them, women who took a pile of medication each day just for the possibility of conceiving, and women on hormone therapy that caused a long list of unpleasant side effects. I heard women talking about hating their bodies, hating their illnesses, and hating their reproductive systems for betraying them.
I also found a few other women like me, those who had managed to find a better way, those who found their way to curing PCOS-something any Dr. will tell you isn’t able to be cured. Those who lost weight, got their chronic pain under control, and created healthier and happier lives. After a lot of time, work, and research I was able to find the common denominators between me and these other women; I found that there is a definite connection between the types of food we eat and how it affects our reproductive systems, illnesses, and fitness.
That’s when I realized that most of the women I’d read about previously who were still suffering, the ones who had turned to major surgeries and settled for half-fulfilled lives probably had no idea that there was anything they could do to make things better. That’s when I knew that I had to share my story. I had to share my journey with other women like me; whether they’re looking for better reproductive health or they want to lose some excess weight, I had to help them by giving them the knowledge and tools to work towards those goals.
